Extreme Bocce Benefit Tournament 2007
By Nate | September 24, 2007
You couldn’t have asked for a nicer day to hold the 2007 Extreme Bocce Benefit Tournament of Vermont, Friday, September 21. As the mercury crept into the low 80′s, the Bear Crew met the challenge, hosting the Tournament on the grounds of the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory here in Shelburne…and throwin’ ’round some mad bocce balls, y’all.
It was the second annual tournament we’ve hosted for the benefit of United Way of Chittenden County . We raised $575 for UWCC just from the Bear Crew, but we also have an annual United Way week with lots of fundraising events. As we say, “Be Bear. Share the honey.”
We were joined on the field of Bocce combat by stouthearted Vermont firms Burton Snowboards, Gardener’s Supply, and Hampton Direct. The competition was fierce (uh, as fierce as tossing little wooden balls can get), and in the end, Team Burton emerged victorious. Congratulations to Smajo Sehovic and Maruan Taji (see pic above with Tamara Powell).
Here are more pics and a short video I took at the tournament:

The money raised for UWCC, or the actual Bocce playing? [:-)]
